CHEFFY EGOR: control electronics for a $1M Kickstarter breakfast robot
EGOR cracks and cooks eggs seven ways, on a timer or a schedule, and synchronizes with its companion toaster TOASTR so eggs and toast finish together. CHEFFY, a San Francisco startup founded by Arjun Mehta, took it to Kickstarter in July 2026 and raised over ten times its goal. Electuni brought up the control and interface electronics behind EGOR's round front panel.

Real Proven Results
EGOR funded on August 29, 2026 with $1,052,207 from 4,233 backers against a $100,000 goal. Kickstarter named it a Project We Love, it was selected as a Google × Kickstarter Next Wave Fund recipient, and pre-orders across Kickstarter and CHEFFY's own store have since passed $1.4 million.

The Product
You load eggs into EGOR's cracking module, pick a style on the front panel and choose when breakfast should be ready. It cracks the eggs, drops the shells into a compartment, cooks on an induction base and holds everything warm until you come for it. It fries up to two eggs or boils up to six, and every part that touches food is dishwasher safe.

The Challenge
EGOR is operated entirely from one small round panel. The electronics behind it had to put a screen in a round tinted window, line three buttons up with their cut-outs, and drive the motor smoothly, all from a single controller, and be proven behind the actual cover lens rather than on a loose dev board.
What Electuni Built
ESP32 control platform
Brought up an ESP32 controller that runs the display, reads the buttons and commands the motor together in one firmware build.
Display behind a round cover lens
Brought up a rectangular TFT LCD behind the round, tinted cover lens, with the display sitting in the lens window.
Three-button interface over I²C
Read the three tactile buttons through a PCF I²C I/O expander at address 0x39, so the button boards share a two-wire bus.
Stepper drive with live telemetry
Drove the stepper through an SPI stepper driver, reading control and diagnostic registers back onto the screen in real time while tuning step timing for slow, smooth motion.

Bench to Product
The same layout, from our bench to the panel backers see: screen in the round window, three buttons beneath it, live countdown while EGOR cooks.

The Campaign
The campaign ran from July 29 to August 29, 2026 and unlocked its $1M voice-commands stretch goal, so every EGOR ships with voice-ready hardware. CHEFFY has completed a first DFM pass with manufacturers and is working toward UL, FCC, UKCA and CE certification, with deliveries estimated for December 2026.
